I wanted to make sure the approach was the right one, as there is a lot of technical knowledge and value behind our videos. I appreciated Cheryl’s feedback and insight.

Afterwards, what struck me about the meeting, was the process I observed. On the one hand, Cheryl analyzed our product offering, taking into account overhead costs and profit margins and on the other hand she looked at the market and networking groups in which I’m currently participating, analyzed what these groups are interested in, a price point they might consider and offered solutions that bridged the gap and married both the interests of the networking group and our business.

It was quite interesting, because not only did it give me some perspective, but the solutions were presented in a very clear manner with possible options we could pursue.

At the same time, I felt Cheryl was respectful, not only of the needs of the small business owners in the networking group, but also of the professional value of our video work and the craftsmanship behind it. The analysis and respect are what motivated me to consider her suggestions. At the end of the day, in order to follow up, we need to feel motivated that there is something to be offered and something to be gained for our business.
